Why we Worship the way we do

Why do we Emphasize Worship?

"Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve," Matthew 4:10.

"O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our Maker," Psalm 95:6.

"Who shall not fear Thee O Lord, and glorify Thy Name?
For Thou only art Holy: for all nations shall come and worship before Thee:
for Thy judgements are made manifest," Revelations 15:4.

Why do we have this type of worship?

"But the hour cometh, and now is when the true worshippers shall worship The Father in spirit and in truth for The Father in seeketh such to worship HIM in spirit and in truth," John 4:23-24.

"For we are the Circumcision which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh," Phillipians 3:3.

Why does the whole congregation pray at once for specific needs?

"And when they heard that they lifted up their voice with one accord, and said, Lord Thou art God. Which hast made heaven and earth..." Acts 4:24.

Why do we pray with laying on hands?

"they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover," Mark 16:18

"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of The Lord," James 5:14.

Why do we receive tithes and offerings?

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove ME now herewith, saith The Lord of host, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it," Malachi 3:10.

"Upon the first day of the week let everyone of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that here be no gatherings when I come," I Corinthians 16:2.

"But this I say, he which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity for GOD loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work," 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.

What is prophecy?

"The Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy," Amos 3:8

"But he that prophesieth speaketh onto men to edification, and exortation, and comfort," I Corinthians 14:3.

Why do we prohesy?

"Follow after charity, and desire spiritaul gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy," I Corinthians 14:1

"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to man to profit withal... to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy," I Corinthians 12:7-10

Why do we have speaking with tongues and interpretaion?

"Wherefore, brethren, convert to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues," I Corinthians 14:39.

But manifestaion of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal... to another divers kinds of tongues,
to another interpataion of tongues," I Corinthians 12:7, 10.

"I would that ye all speak with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for the greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying," I Corinthians 14:5.

"If any man speak in unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most three, and that by course, and let one interpret," I Corinthians 14:27.

Why do we sing in tongues and in English?

"For I pray in an unknown tongues, my spirit prayeth but my but my understanding is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with Spirit, and I will pray with understanding also: I will sing with the Spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also," I Corinthians 14:14-15.

Why are musical instruments a part of the worship service?

"Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the psaltry and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him with the stringed instruments and organs.
Praise Him upon the loud sounding cymbol: Praise Him upon the loud sounding cymbols," Psalm 150:3-5.

Why do we have audible praise unto God?

"Bless The Lord O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name," Psalm 103:1

"And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven saying, ALLELUIA; salvation and glory and honor, and power unto The Lord our God... And I heard as it were the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying ALLEUIA; for The Lord God Omnipotent reigneth," Revelations 19:1, 6.

"What is it then? I pray with the Spirit and I will pray with the understanding also:
I will sing with the Spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also," I Corinthians 14: 14-15.

Why do we stand to sing?

"And the Levites,... of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise The Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high," 2 Chronicles 20:19.

"After this I beheld, and lo, great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before The Lamb, clothed with white robes and palms in their hands; salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto The Lamb," Revelation 7:9-10.

"Why do we sing chourses as well as hymns?

"and be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to The Lord," Ephesians 3:16.

"Let the of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hmns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to The Lord," Colossians 3:16.

Why do we clap our hands?

"O clap your hands all ye people, shout unto God with voice of triumph," Psalm 63:4.

We lift our hands onto The Lord!

Why do we lift our hands?

"Thus I will bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name," Psalm 63:4.

"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless The Lord," Psalm 134:2.

"I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting,"
I Timothy 2:8

Why do some dance before the Lord?

"Praise ye The Lord. Sing unto The Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints. Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name in dance: let them praise unto HIM with the timble and harp," Psalm 149:1-3.

I peter 2:5
